PM Modi to launch PM-KISAN scheme today, over 1 cr farmers to get Rs 2,000 each in 1st tranche

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be at Gorakhpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

At Fertilizer Corporation of India ground at Gorakhpur, Prime Minister will mark the launch of the PM-KISAN scheme, through press of button, to electronically transfer the first installment of Rs 2,000 to selected farmers.

This will mark the official launch of the PM KISAN scheme, an official source said.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) was announced in the interim Budget 2019-20 on February 1, 2019.

Under the Scheme, Rs 6,000 will be given per year to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding and ownership of up to two hectares.

In a series of tweets, Prime Minister said the the launch of the scheme would mark NDA's "unwavering commitment to farmer welfare".

This is a scheme that will give wings to the aspirations of crores of hardworking farmers of India who feed our nation," Mr Modi wrote.

A PMO announcement has said that, Prime Minister will take a 'snaan' at Triveni Sangam at Prayagraj on Sunday.

At Kumbh, he will participate in the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar event, organized by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The Prime Minister will distribute the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar awards to Safai Karmacharis, Swachhagrahis, Police Personnel and Naviks.

There will also be the digital announcement of Swachh Seva Samman Benefits package. He will also address the gathering.

Meanwhile, he is also scheduled to make his monthly radio broadcast Mann-Ki-Baat over All India Radio during the day.

This will be 53rd edition of Mann-Ki-Baat and also the first since the February 14 unprecedented terror strike at Pulwama that claimed lives of 40 CRPF personnel. (UNI)
