Pune: Southwest monsoon on Friday further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian sea, some parts of central Arabian sea, remaining parts of Lakshadweep and Kerala, most parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka, some parts of north interior Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of westcentral and some more parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

It is very likely to advance further into some more parts of central Arabian sea, some parts of
Maharashtra and Goa, remaining parts of Karnataka, some more parts of Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Telangana, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, some more parts of central Bay of Bengal, some parts of northeast Bay of Bengal and northeast India during next 2-3 days.
The monsoon has been active over coastal and south interior Karnataka, and Kerala. The highest maximum temperature of 42.2 °C reported at Jhansi over the country.
 
Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5°C) at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch; above normal (1.6°C to 3°C) at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at many places over Assam and Meghalaya; at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe.
 
They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C and more) at many places over Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Telangana and north interior Karnataka; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rayalaseema; at isolated places over east Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5°C) at many places over east Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha; at a few places over Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Bihar, Odisha and west Madhya Pradesh; below normal (-1.6°C to -3°C) at most places over west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh; at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Lakshadweep; at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal and near normal over rest parts of the country.
 
Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hrs IST of today) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over Punjab, Jharkhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, west Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
 
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Rayalseema, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at many places in Assam and Meghalaya, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Punjab, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and at isolated places in Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state and Madhya Maharashtra.
Mainly dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Marathwada, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.(UNI)
