Bhopal: Dr Mohan Yadav – who was unanimously chosen as the Madhya Pradesh BJP Legislature Party leader here on Monday – is to assume the mantle of Chief Minister and is believed to be the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s choice as well.

Born on March 25, 1965 in Poonamchand Yadav’s family at the ancient temple town Ujjain – abode of the world-renowned Mahakaleshwar shrine – Yadav, hitherto serving as Higher Education Minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Council of Ministers, specialises in accomplishing missions while maintaining a low profile.

Yadav is an alumnus of the Vikram University, Ujjain and possesses BSc, LLB, MA (Political Science) and MBA degrees in addition to a doctorate. His spouse is Seema and the couple has two sons and a daughter. His interests include tourism, culture, history, science and sports.

The Chief Minister designate entered the political sphere when he was elected Secretary during the student union election at Ujjian’s Madhav Science College in 1982. A couple of years later, Yadav became associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and shouldered several key responsibilities.

From 2000-03, he was Ujjain District General Secretary of the BJP.

In 2013, he was made Chairman of the State Tourism Development Corporation and elevated to Cabinet rank. That very year he became MLA from Ujjain South, which he has been representing ever since. The Higher Education portfolio was bestowed on July 2, 2020. (UNI)
