Mumbai: A 52-year-old man in Mumbai was arrested by VP Road police station for allegedly raping his two minor daughters on several occasions, an official said here on Tuesday.

The accused was booked under the various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Bharatiya Naya Sahita. He has been remanded to police custody by a special court here.

The police filed a case of child sex abuse on the complaint of the 17-year-old daughter of the accused.

A few months ago, when the accused allegedly sexually abused her, she was sent to an orphanage, the police said.

After she was sent to the orphanage, her father started sexually abusing her 14-year-old younger sister at home, police said.

The girls' mother then took the help of the orphanage and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to file a complaint against the accused, police said.

CWC officials lodged a complaint with the Versova police, who on Saturday registered a case against the accused father and transferred the case to VP Road police station.
