Nagpur: The death row convict in 2003 Mumbai twin bomb blasts case, Mohammad Hanif Syed, died while undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital here,informed sources.
He died on Saturday.In 2009,a Prevention of Terrorist Activity Court held the deceased,his wife and third conspirator Ashrat Ansari guilty of implanting explosives in two taxis,which later exploded at the Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar,claiming 52 lives and injuring 244 people.
In 2012,the guilty Hanif was moved from Pune-based Yerwada jail to the Nagpur Central Jail,after the Bombay High Court upheld his death sentence.
The reason for his death is reported to be cardiac arrest ,however, exact cause would be determined after post-mortem,said sources. (UNI)
