A 36-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his mother and asking her to live with him as his wife in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 51,000 on the accused, identified as Aabid.
The woman's husband died 10 years back.
Aabid was arrested on January 22, 2023, after his younger brother lodged the First Information Report (FIR) at the area police station.
According to public prosecutor Vijay Sharma, the incident occurred on January 16 last year. Aabid asked his mother to accompany him to bring fodder for cattle from a farm near their home.
When the woman was busy getting the fodder, Aabid attacked her, stuffed a cloth in her mouth and then raped her, Sharma said.
The younger brother said in the FIR, “The mother told us about the incident when she returned. We tried to sort out the issue within the family but my brother kept threatening our mother to live with him as his wife following which we lodged the FIR.”
“This is the first of a kind case in my entire career as during the trial the mother kept on repeating that her son is a monster who raped her. The court has disposed of the case in a record 20 months,” said Sharma.
