Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday ordered that the cost of public property damaged during Nagpur violence will be recovered from rioters and any failure to pay the cost would result in the seizure of assets.

After holding a review meeting with police officials regarding the recent incidents of violence in Nagpur, Fadnavis talking to media said that 104 rioters have been identified after analysing videos and footage from CCTV cameras so far and action has been taken against 92 people, including 12 minors, as per the law.

He also said that the state government will not rest until the miscreants, who attacked the police, are found and dealt with sternly.

The Chief Minister, who heads the Home Ministry said that 'it was too early to comment on a foreign or Bangladeshi hand in the riots as the probe is underway'. However the incident cannot be termed "intelligence failure", but the intelligence (gathering) could have been better.

Fadnavis said the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be impacted due to the violence in central Nagpur areas.

Rioters threw stones at women constables. "They were not molested," he clarified.Speaking on the investigations, the CM said no foreign hand or Bangladeshi link has surfaced."There is no political angle to the violence," he added.(UNI)
