Nashik: Clashes erupt over demolition of illegal dargah, 21 policemen, incudling 4 officers, injured in stone-pelting (VIDEOS)

Nashik: At least 21 policemen, including four officers, sustained injuries when an unruly mob pelted with stones at Kathe galli area here in Maharashtra on Wednesday.

The mob protesting against the demolition of "unauthorized" Satpir Dargah suddenly turned violent when Nashik Police and the Municipal Corporation started removing the construction at around 5:30 am.

Since the situation got out of hand, police resorted to tear gas shells to disperse the irate mob.

Nashik Police had issued a notice to demolish the "unauthorized" construction of Satpir Dargah located in the Kathe Galli area of the city 15 days ago.

Since it was not removed till yesterday, police and the Municipal Corporation started removing the unauthorized construction this morning.

The situation is under control now, police said.

Cases have been registered against those who incited violence during the removal of the "unauthorized" construction.

In all 15 people have been detained, police added.
