NCB Srinagar arrests key receiver in 10.7 kg Charas case linking Kashmir to KolkataThe Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Srinagar has arrested the main receiver of a 10.735 kg Charas consignment seized earlier in South Kashmir, exposing an interstate drug trafficking network spanning Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal.
The accused, identified as Khoka Dey alias Khokha Da of Kolkata, was apprehended in a risky operation at Bowbazar with the support of NCB Kolkata. He was the intended recipient of the contraband, officials said.
“This arrest establishes the connection of the syndicate and highlights the interstate scope of the trafficking network spanning Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal,” a statement by NCB said.Earlier, three persons — the mastermind, a middleman, and the supplier — were arrested in the case. Investigations revealed that the seized contraband was meant for distribution in Kolkata.
According to NCB officials, Dey, a habitual offender, played a key role in facilitating narcotics distribution in Kolkata and adjoining areas. His arrest is being seen as a major blow to the syndicate’s supply chain.The agency said it is pursuing forward and backward linkages of the network while appealing to citizens to share drug-related information through the national helpline 1933.(UNI)
