Patna: NDA leaders on Tuesday slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for curtailing government holidays on Hindu festivals, saying it was an attempt of Muslim appeasement to polarise votes in 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Union Minister of state for Home Nityanand Rai said it was most surprising and painful to note that number of government holidays on Hindu festivals had been curtailed in Bihar for the year 2024. It was an attempt of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to appease Muslims for polarisation of votes in 2024 Lok Sabha election, he remarked.

"Hindus will not tolerate such discrimination against them and they would teach a lesson to Nitish Kumar government in 2024 Lok Sabha election", the Union Minister said adding that Chief Minister had no work left and now he was dividing the society on the basis of religion.
How could Hindu tolerate such discrimination against them, he questioned.

President of LJP-R and MP from Jamui Lok Sabha seat, Chirag Paswan also came down heavily on Nitish Kumar for curtailing holidays on Hindu festivals. Instead of deciding policies, the Chief Minister had started curtailing holidays on Hindu festivals, he quipped.

Paswan said that even Muslims had not demanded to increase number of government holidays on their festivals but it was increased. It appeared that instead of taking decisions on issues of public interests, Kumar was trying to divide the society on the basis of religion, he alleged. (UNI)
