New Delhi: A 20-year-old girl died after her scooty was hit by a car and allegedly dragged for a few kilometers in the Outer Delhi area, the Delhi Police said on Sunday.
All the five occupants of the car have been apprehended in this connection, police said.
According to police, the deceased used to work part time in marriage and other functions. She was returning home from one such function when this incident took place on Sunday wee hours. After the accident, the victim got entangled in the car wheels and dragged for quite some distance.
The Police received a PCR Call at around 3:24 am on Sunday at Kanjhawala Police Station. The caller informed the police that a dead body is tied in a grey colour car which is heading toward Qutab Garh.
The staff deployed at pickets was alerted as well the message was flashed to search the vehicle. The constant efforts were made to trace the vehicle. At about 4:11 am, a PCR call was again received at Kanjhawala PS about the body of a girl lying on the road.
On reaching the spot, crime team inspected the scene of crime thereafter, body was sent to SGM Hospital, Mangolpuri wherein the doctor declared the patient brought dead, Police said.
In the meantime the car was traced and during enquiry, the occupants of the vehicle were traced and they stated that the car met with an accident in the area of Sultanpuri Police Station.
In the area of Sultanpuri PS, Station House Officer (SHO) during night patrolling had already noticed a scooty in accidental condition and the information was lodged in the PS at 3.53 am. With the scooty number further investigation was conducted and it was found that two wheeler belongs to the deceased, police said.
The spot inspection revealed that after the accident victim got entangled in the car wheels and dragged for quite some distance. Further investigation is underway, police said. (UNI)
