NHRC team examines bodies of 4 slain accused in Disha's rape and murder

Hyderabad: A team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Saturday visited the Mahabubnagar general hospital, where the bodies of the four accused in the gang-rape and murder of young veterinarian Disha were kept.
The four accused were shot dead a by the police at Chatanpalli village, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, early on Friday, a week after they were arrested in connection with the gang-rape and murder of Disha which evoked country-wide outrage.
 
The team members, who examined the bodies also visited the "encounter" site at Chatanpalli about 60  kms from Hyderabad. They were accompanied by a team of Cyberabad police.
 
It may be mentioned that taking suo motu cognizance of media reports about the killing of the four accused by the police  on Friday, the NHRC observed that the incident required investigation and decided to send a team to the site of the incident.
 
A team of Senior Congress leaders, Meanwhile, met Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Raj Bhavan today and urged her  to initiate steps to check growing atrocities against women in the state.
 
Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) Chief Kodandaram demanded that the government should set up a women's commission without loss of time.
 
Meanwhile, Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu expressed anguish over the recent incidents of rape and violence against women in Hyderabad , Unnao (UP) and other parts of the country.
He made these observations while addressing the valedictory of the 94th course of the  Officers of All India services.(UNI)
