NIA arrests accused in ISIS Kasaragod module case

New Delhi:The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested a suspect for conspiring to commit a terrorist act in Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) module from Palakkad in Kerala, an official statement said here on Monday.The accused Riyas A alias Riyas Aboobacker will be produced before NIA Court, Kochi on  Tuesday, it said.
According to the central terror probe agency, the accused Riyas, during his interrogation,disclosed that he had been in online contact with absconding accused Abdul Rashid Abdulla alias Abu Isa for a long time and has been following his audio clips including the clip which he had circulated on social media platform instigating others to carryout terror attacks in India.
 
He revealed that he was also having online chat with Abdul Khayoom alias Abu Khalid who is an accused in Valapattanam ISIS case, believed to be in Syria. 
 
"Riaz further disclosed that he has been following speeches and videos of Zahran Hashim of Sri Lanka for more than a year and has also followed the speeches of Zakir Naik. He admitted that he wanted to carry out a suicide attack in Kerala", the probe agency said.
 
NIA had earlier received inputs that a group of four persons has been in contact with some of the accused Abdul Rashid, Ashfaq Majeed, Abdul Khayoom  who had already migrated to Afghanistan and Syria.
 
After proper verification, the probing agency carried out searches at three places, two in Kasaragod and one in Palakkad district on Sunday. Three group members have already been interrogated for their ISIS links and their plans.
 
This case was registered in July 2016 following the disappearance of 15 youths from Kasargod and their subsequent migration to ISIS."14 persons migrated to Afghanistan while one person migrated to Syria", the NIA officials said.
 
 
NIA arrests absconder from Malda in  Vizag fake currency case
 
New Delhi:The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested an absconding accused  Saddam alias Firoj Saikh from Malda in a case registered at Vizag in case related to  Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) case.
 
The accused Saddam was produced before Malda CJM court and the probe agency was granted transit remand for producing him in the NIA court at Vijaywada.The probe agency also recovered FICN worth Rs 8000 in Rs 2000 denomination from the accused.
 
This case is related to seizure of FICN of face value of Rs 10,20,000/- from two persons namely Md Mahaboob Baig alias  Azhar Baig and Syed Imran by DRI at Visakhapatnam on  March 31, 2018.
 
During investigation it was revealed that the accused persons had travelled to Malda from Bangalore and collected  FICN from Saddam.
 
NIA Hyderabad took over the case and after investigation filed a charge sheet against Md Mahaboob Baig alias  Azhar Baig  and Syed Imran on June 29,2018.
 
"The absconding accused Saddam  had procured FICN  through his associates from across the border and  facilitated circulation of FICN in Bangalore and nearby areas", the probe agency said in release.The further investigation is going on in the case, the agency added.(UNI)
