Nirbhaya case: 4 convicts to be sent to gallows on Jan 22

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday issued death warrant for the four convicts in the horrific Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case which had shaken the conscience of the nation.
One of the six convicts, a juvenile who was just short of 18 when the  barbaric crime took place, was released after three years in a reform  home. Another, Ram Singh, hanged himself in jail.
The court today accepted the plea seeking the issuance of 'black warrant' against the four convicts.
 
It ruled that the convicts will be hanged on January 22 at 7am.On the fateful night of December 16, 2012, the 23-year-old medical student, was gang-raped on a moving bus, tortured with an iron rod and dumped by the roadside by six men. She died in a Singapore hospital days later.
 
 
Daughter has got justice: Nirbhaya's mother
 
Soon after a city court on Tuesday issued death warrants to all four convicts in the Nirbhaya case, Asha Devi the mother of the 2012 gangrape case victim, said that her daughter has got justice and the decision will further strenghten the faith of people in the judicial system.
The order was pronounced by an Additional Sessions Judge here, according to which the execution of the four convicts Mukesh,Vinay Sharma, Akshay Singh and Pawan Gupta will take place on January 22 at 0700 hours in the Tihar Jail.
 
The convicts have 14 days for legal remedies in this regard, the judge ruled.One of the six convicts, a juvenile who was just short of 18 when the  barbaric crime took place, was released after three years in a reform  home.
