Nirbhaya sadists: Another convict Vinay Kumar Sharma files mercy petition before President

New Delhi: Vinay Kumar Sharma, one of the death row convicts in the December 16, 2012, gangrape and murder case of Nirbhaya, on Wednesday filed a mercy petition before President Ramnath Kovind, pleading for mercy and seeking a direction for commutation of his death sentence to life imprisonment.

A P Singh, lawyer for Vinay Kumar Sharma, said that his client has filed a mercy petition before the President.

Vinay was sentenced to death for his role in the crime.

He along with other three convicts -- Mukesh Kumar Singh, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Akshay Singh -- were ordered by Patiala House Court in Delhi to be executed on February 1. (UNI)
