Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday staked claim to form a new government after being elected as leader of the NDA legislature party.
Kumar was unanimously elected leader of the NDA legislature party convened at 1 Anne Marg, the official residence of the Chief Minister. Legislators of JD(U), BJP and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) were present in the meeting when Kumar was elected leader of the legislature party.
As the leader of the NDA legislature party, Kumar is all set to take oath as Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth. The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Rajbhawan on Sunday evening.
Earlier, BJP legislators elected Samrat Chaudhary as leader and Vijay Sinha as deputy leader of the BJP legislature party.
BJP national president J P Nadda and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony. Both leaders will arrive from New Delhi to be present on the occasion at the Rajbhawan.
