New Delhi: No Confidence Motion against the BJP-led NDA government could not be taken up in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday for the third consecutive day due to continuous ruckus in the House.As soon as the House reassembled at 1200 hrs, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected all the adjournment motions and informed that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj wanted to brief the House on the killing of 39 Indians abducted by ISIS in Mosul in Iraq.As soon as Ms Swaraj started with the statement, there was a huge uproar by the Opposition, including Congress and Left parties. Slogan shouting by the TRS and AIADMK members continued and they rushed to the Well carrying placards.
The Minister said she cannot make a statement on such a sensitive subject amid uproarious scenes in the House. The External Affairs Minister said 39 Indians abducted by ISIS in Mosul are dead. She said, 'Last time, I said that I couldn't presume them dead till I get any proof. I had said that the day I have proof in this regard, I will inform the House and today I have the proof in this regard and want to inform the House about it.'She said the DNA tests have confirmed the identity of the 38 dead, 70 per cent match was established for the 39th body.
Amid continuous uproar, the Speaker told the agitating members that they should not be insensitive on the matter of death of 39 Indians in Iraq's Mosul."This is not proper and do not be so insensitive. Please do not do such type of politics. Such sorry state, has not been witnessed earlier..this is not fair. You are insensitive for your own people,' Ms Mahajan said.She said since the House was not in order, the No-Confidence Motion cannot be taken up in the House.
The Speaker said she was "duty-bound" to take up the motion but could not do so when the House is not in order. She adjourned the House for the day at 1215 hrs.Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of assembling on Tuesday till 12 noon by the Speaker after the Opposition uproar and protests over Special Category Status demand for Andhra Pradesh and other regional issues.
As soon as the House met for the day, Members from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress Party started sloganeering and rushed into the Well.Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSRCP were carrying placards demanding Special Category status for Andhra Pradesh while lawmakers from TRS donning pink stoles wanted hike in reservation quota for Muslims in Telangana. They raised placards which said 'One nation, one law' and 'Link MG-NREGA to farm labourers'.The AIADMK members also entered into the Well raising slogans for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.(UNI)
