New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to cancel the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test-Under Graduate 2024 or order a retest, saying that despite two localized leaks it cannot be concluded that there was a systemic breach.

Acknowledging that the medical entrance test paper was leaked in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh and Bihar’s Patna, a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said in its verdict that it would be unjustified to subject 23.33 lakh examinees to a re-exam.

The verdict ends the suspense over the fate of over one lakh aspiring doctors who had qualified in NEET-2024 and paves the way for counselling for seat allotment to pick up speed.
