New Delhi: After Kerala, the other non-BJP state governments are considering passing of anti-farm laws resolution in the respective state Assemblies.
According to reports reaching here on Tuesday, DMK chief M K Stalin has already demanded a similar resolution against central farm laws by the Tamil Nadu Assembly,  which is being 'looked into' by the AIADMK- led state government.

The sources said,  the Mamata Banerjee government in Bengal is also for anti-agri laws resolution with the talks between the Centre and farm unions were being inconclusive for a long time.

Informatively, the Kerala Assembly on December 31, unanimously passed a resolution demanding the immediate repeal of the three central farm laws that have triggered a marathon agitation by farmers.

Interestingly, the lone BJP member in the 140-member House, O Rajagopal defended at first, the agree-marketing laws during the debate but did not oppose the resolution.

Moving the resolution during the special session of the state Assembly on Thursday last, which was later passed by the House, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, "Kerala will be the worst-hit state if the agitation continued. This is because unlike other states, Kerala imports it's grain".

Meanwhile, the seventh round of talks between the Centre and the farm unions on Monday remained deadlocked as the farmers insisted on repeal of the new laws.

The latter  maintained that the new farm laws must be scrapped and nothing less was acceptable. But the government continued to press the unions on mooting an alternative to repeal.

"High time, the government should introspect whether the farm protests are 'shaping' into another mass-supported agitation like the CAA," a union leader, on condition of anonymity, commented.(UNI)
