New Delhi: A day after superstar Kamal Haasan had a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is sparking off speculation over political significance, another silver screen hero Rajnikanth today extended his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachhata Hi Seva' mission. "I extend full support to our Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modiji's 'Swachhata Hi Seva' mission. Cleanliness is Godliness," the celebrated star said in a tweet. Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has received a personal invitation from the Prime Minister to support 'Swachhata Hi Seva' movement and along the mega stars like Amitabh Bachchan, she too is seen in popular advertisement 'Dawaza Bandh'.
The Twitter remarks from Rajnikanth, a superstar in his own right in Tamil films, owes political significantly more than the mere cleanliness campaign as the BJP is desperately looking for a popular face in the southern state to establish a political foothold. Rajnikanth had first exhibited his political ambitions two decades ago in 1996 when he directly took on AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa and had also campaigned against her party. Several political teasers and veiled indications have come from the star about his fans about his supposed intent to plunge into political game. These have only increased lately as the state is now faced with a leadership vacuum after the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and also the fact that the DMK supremo M Karunanidhi is aging.
