Once saved from slaughtering, over 100 cows dies suspiciously after eating green grass

Vijayawada: More than 100 cows have died and 10 others are battling for life after eating grass at a gaushala at Kotturu Tadepalli village on the outskirts of the city  on Saturday.
Organisers of the gaushala told media that they fed the cows green grass which brought from Addanki in Prakasam district on Friday evening. 
 
They later found 98 cows dead in the morning and 10 in serious condition. Two of the cows died later and the veterinary doctors are treating those who fell ill. However, the condition of some of the cows was  said to be critical.
 
The organisers lodged a police complaint on the death of over 100 cows in the Gaushala and informed the matter to the Director and Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department. 
 
The Veterinary doctors told media that they could not establish the exact reason for the death of cows. Post-mortem would be conducted and the samples would be sent to forensic lab to ascertain the exact reasons for their death.
 
The  organisers said that there are 1428 cows in the gausala. Most of the cows brought to the gaushala after officials seized them while being transported to slaughter houses.Police began investigation on the suspicious deaths of cows.(UNI)
