Srinagar: In a massive crackdown following the series of civilian killings, over 400 people have been detained for questioning by Jammu and Kashmir Police in various raids in the past few days across the valley.
Those detained include former overground workers and ex militants, those involved previously in stone pelting and those having affiliation with separatists.The sources said the massive crackdown was aimed to break the chain of civilian killings.
“There are some 400 people who have been detained which include over 70 from Srinagar district for questioning,” the sources said, adding the raids are continuing in different parts of the valley.The police were questioning those detained to find a lead in recent civilian killings.
Militants have stepped up attacks on the civilians in Kashmir this month. Seven civilians including four members from the minority community have been killed in various attacks in the past one week. Police blame “The Resistance Front (TRF)” for these killings which have triggered fear among the minorities across Kashmir.(UNI)
