New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack after he landed in the National Capital early on Wednesday from Jeddah.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other senior officials were present at the meeting at the Delhi airport. The External Affairs Minister and the Security Advisor briefed PM Modi on the current situation and the attack in detail.
After attending a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Modi returned home this morning.
PM Modi has called a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security in the wake of the emergency situation.
Earlier, the PM had strongly condemned the terror attack and said the resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.
In a post on X, the PM expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones and said that those behind the heinous act will not be spared.
"I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected.
"Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice...they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger".
