In a tragic incident, three sisters allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of a residential apartment building in Ghaziabad in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident took place around 2 am at flat number 907 in India City’s B-1 Tower.
According to police, the sisters—identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Paakhi (12)—reportedly held each other’s hands before jumping from the balcony. All three died on the spot. Residents alerted authorities after hearing a loud noise, following which police teams reached the scene.
Preliminary findings suggest the minors were addicted to a task-based Korean online game. Police sources said their father had recently reprimanded them and restricted their access to the game, after which the sisters allegedly took the extreme step. However, officials stressed that the exact sequence of events and motives are still being investigated.
The Father of the minors said, "They had told me, ‘Papa, we cannot leave Korean. Korean is our life. Korean is everything to us. You cannot separate us from it. We will give up our lives.’ I have just seen the suicide note. This is very tragic. I appeal to all parents to be careful and ensure children do not get so deeply attached to games."
Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Alok Priyadarshi said, “We are examining all aspects of the case. At present, it appears to be a case of suicide. The sisters lived together and frequently played games on their mobile phones. The precise reasons and circumstances leading to the incident are under thorough investigation.”
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment complex and have sent the sisters’ mobile phones for forensic examination to ascertain further details.
