New Delhi:A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday against Indian National Congress (INC) party president Sonia Gandhi, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others seeking details of an alleged 2008 agreement between the INC and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for exchange of high-level information and co-operation between them.
The petition filed by Advocate Shashank Shekhar Jha and founder and Editor-in-Chief of Goa Chronicle Savio Rodrigues, also seeks an investigation into the alleged agreement by National Investigation Agency (NIA)

The agreement refers to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government with CPC. It allows exchange of high-level info, cooperation and there should be an investigation into it, the PIL claimed

The plea alleged that agreement was made despite hostile relations with the neighbour as well as frequent face-offs. Moreover, the public was kept under dark regarding the agreement, it further alleged.

"Petitioners firmly believe that  the Nation's security cannot and shouldn't be compromised by any one. Therefore it seeks  to bring transparency and clarity regarding the agreement signed between the UPA and the Communist Party of   China   which   is   also   the   de-facto government of People's Republic of China, " it said.

It urged the Apex Court to investigate the matter through National  Investigation  Agency  (NIA)  under  the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.(UNI)
