PM lays foundation stone of Maharaja Suheldev Memorial

Bahraich:On the birth anniversary of 11th century warrior Maharaja Suheldev, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dedicated Maharaja Suheldev State Medical College to the people of Bahraich via video conferencing and laid the foundation stone of the Maharaja Suheldev Memorial and various development projects.
Announcing the opening of medical college in Bahraich, PM Modi said, “Increasing health facilities in the aspirational district of Bahraich will not only make the lives of its residents easier but its benefits will be available to the surrounding districts as well as help patients coming from Nepal and other parts of the country.”
 
In order to boost tourism, Prime Minister unveiled programmes for the beautification of Shravasti, Chittora Lake, and Bahraich on the occasion and said that a 40 ft. high statue of Maharaj Suheldev will be made, and to attract tourists from across the world, he announced the development of roads, Chittora lake and various tourist amenities like a cafeteria, guest house, and a children’s park, etc.
 
Laying the foundation stone of Maharaj Suheldev memorial and development work of Chittaura Lake in UP, PM Modi said, “This Basant Panchami has come with new hopes and new enthusiasm for India that is moving forward, leaving behind the despair of the pandemic.”
 
Spreading the greatness of the forgotten 11th century king, Maharaja Suheldev, and giving him the respect and popularity he deserves, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the event in Bahraich said that the opening of Maharaja Suheldev Medical College will be a great step towards the health sector. It will provide affordable and up-to-date medical facilities to the people of the state.
 
Paying tribute to Maharaj Suheldev on his birth anniversary, CM Yogi said, “The unforgettable contribution made by Maharaja Suheldev to protect the country and religion is exemplary for all. His valor and struggle will always keep inspiring the people of the country. It was the great resistance of Maharaja Suheldev that for over 100 years, no Britisher could muster the courage to attack India.”
 
Marking 16th February as an important day for the country, CM Yogi appreciated PM Modi and said that this is for the first time in history that any government has taken concerted steps to popularise Suheldev.
 
The CM also said that earlier, in February 2016, BJP chief Amit Shah had unveiled a statue of Suheldev and launched also a book about him, in the Bahraich district near the Indo-Nepal border, where the medieval king enjoys legendary status.
 
After a month or two, the Central Government had also released a postal stamp, and run a superfast train — ‘The Suhaildev Express’. The tri-weekly covers the breadth of India’s most populous state i.e. from Ghazipur in Purvanchal to Anand Vihar in Delhi.
 
Remembering the Chauri Chaura incident, CM Yogi said that as a tribute to unsung heroes of freedom struggle and sensitise the young generation about the valour of little known or unknown freedom fighters, the Yogi-led BJP government has decided for the year-long centenary celebrations of the historic event.
 
Ending his speech, CM Yogi said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the task of reviving the memories and glorious history of Maharaja Suheldev, who was forgotten for nearly a thousand years is being done.
 
Expressing sadness over the previous government for not doing anything to bring back the identity of the leaders who sacrificed their lives for our country, PM Modi said, “This is unfortunate that no step was taken by the previous governments to give respect to the leaders they deserve. But, now ‘Naya Bharat’ is committed and determined to bring back the identity of the legend who has been deliberately ignored by historians, who distorted the rich Indian history.”
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing people in the event said that, before the BJP Government came into power, there were only 14 medical colleges and the health facilities in the state were also poor. But during our regime, the state has 24 medical colleges. He also said that work for AIIMS is going on in Gorakhpur and Bareilly which will be proved to be a milestone in terms of UP's medical education and health facilities.
 
During the event, PM Modi said that sugarcane farmers were provided every possible help from our government so that they do not face any problem. The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is continuously working towards the welfare of farmers so that they do not face any panic situation.
 
He also said that the Yogi-led BJP government has set a new record for the highest ever payment to sugarcane farmers, including the dues of the previous government. Along with the payment, the government has placed maximum emphasis on modernisation of old mills and the establishment of new mills.
 
Appreciating the Yogi Government, the Prime Minister said that today, every person of the country is watching that Yogi Government is working day and night to save their property and it only aims to make every person of the country ‘Self-Reliant’.
 
To eliminate house ownership disputes, the records of over 2 lakh houses of more than one thousand villages of Uttar Pradesh have been digitised under the ambitious 'Swamitva Yojana'. This scheme was launched to provide ownership to the real owners of the houses built in the rural areas.
 
Under the Swamitva Yojana, the land in rural populated areas will be mapped using modern technologies including the use of drones to demarcate the land. Over 40 drones are already in service in the various districts.
 
Ending his speech with a quote from an epic poem, ‘Ramcharitmanas’, PM Modi said that any work started with the name of Shree Ram always gives success.(UNI)
