Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for a two-day State Visit to Israel on Tuesday, at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The primary goal of the visit is to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, according to an official statement.
In his departure remarks, Modi emphasized the "robust and multifaceted" nature of the growing India-Israel partnership, which has gained momentum in recent years. He expressed anticipation for discussions with Prime Minister Netanyahu, aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas such as science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defense and security, trade and investment, and people-to-people connections.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss key regional and global issues of mutual interest during the visit. In addition to meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Modi is set to engage with Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog.
A significant highlight of the trip will be Modi's address to the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to deliver a speech there. Modi referred to the event as a symbol of the strong parliamentary and democratic ties between the two nations. He also expressed his eagerness to engage with the Indian diaspora in Israel, recognizing their contribution to fostering the enduring friendship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister is optimistic that this visit will further solidify bilateral relations, set new goals for the strategic partnership, and contribute to the shared vision of a resilient, innovative, and prosperous future.
