PM Modi greets people of Gujarat and Maharashtra on Statehood day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his greeting to the people of Gujarat and Maharashtra on their statehood day.
 
Taking to tweet, the Prime Minister greeted the people of Gujarat and said "Gujarat has made a mark due to its all-round progress as well as its unique culture."
 
"Greetings on Gujarat Sthapana Diwas. I pray that the state continues to scale new heights of development in the times ahead." he tweeted.

The Prime Minister also extended his wishes to the people of Maharashtra and said "The state is blessed with a great culture and hardworking people"
 
"Best wishes on Maharashtra Day. The state is blessed with a great culture and hardworking people who have enriched national progress across different sectors. I pray for the continued progress of Maharashtra in the years to come." he tweeted.

Maharashtra Day, commonly known as Maharashtra Diwas, is celebrated to mark the bifurcation of the “Bombay” state on linguistic basis into two states: Gujarat and Maharashtra.
 
The Bombay Reorganisation Act in 1960 bifurcated the Bombay State into two separate states namely, Gujarat and Maharashtra. (UNI)
