New Delhi: Leaving the bitterness of electoral campaign behind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid homage to country's first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru and recalled his contribution on the latter's death anniversary.
"Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his death anniversary. We remember his contributions to our nation," Prime Minister tweeted.During the campaign for Lok Sabha polls, there was immense bitterness in the air with BJP leaders more often attacking the first family of the Congress party.
Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage to Pt Nehru.
"Remembering India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's contribution to our society and the nation on his punyatithi. I offer my tributes to him," Mr Singh tweeted.
Pt Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad and breathed his last on May 27, 1964.(UNI)
