Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday cast his vote at the Nishan Public School, at Sabarmati Assembly constituency, Ahmedabad in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly Election 2022.
On his way, he greeted people as he walked to reach his polling booth. This is the same booth where PM Modi casted his vote in 2017.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the voters of Gujarat, particularly, young voters and women to vote in large numbers.
“Urging all those who are voting in Phase 2 of the Gujarat elections, particularly the young voters and women voters to vote in large numbers. I will be casting my vote in Ahmedabad at around 9 am,” he tweeted.
Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel also cast his vote for the second phase of at Booth 95, Shilaj Anupam School in Ahmedabad.
The polling for the second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections is being held today on 93 seats spread across 14 districts.
Over 2.5 crore voters will go to the polls for the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections.
As many as 833 candidates are in the fray and Gujarat will witness a three-way contest between BJP, AAP and Congress.
In the second phase polling, BJP and Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP are contesting in all the 93 seats.
Congress is contesting 90 seats and its alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has fielded candidates in two seats.
The prominent candidates in the second phase of the Gujarat polls are Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani who had played a key role in shaping the narrative of the 2017 state Assembly election. (UNI)
