New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day.
Accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the War Memorial and Inter Services Guard played the tune of 'Salami Shastra' followed by 'Sloka Shastra'.
They were joined by three service chiefs -- Army Chief General MM Naravane, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
A two-minutes of silence was observed. The Prime Minister also wrote a message in the digital visitor's book at the memorial.
In a departure from his usual "safa" and "pagri", this year, PM Modi was seen wearing a cap from Uttarakhand along with 'Brahmakamal', which is the state flower of Uttarakhand.
He uses 'Brahmakamal' flower whenever he performs 'pooja' at Kedarnath. The prime minister was also seen wearing a stole from Manipur.
As soon as PM's pictures came out, netizens started talking about this special cap and it’s resemblance to Netaji’s cap.
