PM remembers Sardar Patel, urges all 'Run for Unity'

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remembered the contributions of country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and recalled his grit and determination in uniting India. He urged citizens to participate in the 'Run for Unity'.


 


"Sardar Patel ensured that millions of Indians were brought under the ambit of one nation and one constitution. Sardar Patel’s speciality was in his ability for devising practical solutions to the most complicated problems," the Prime Minister said in his monthly radio broadcast Mann-ki-Baat over All India Radio. Mr Modi referred to the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel that falls on October 31. "On the occasion of Sardar sahib's birth anniversary, 'Run for Unity' will be organised across the country. I urge people, children and youth and women of all age and groups to participate in this event," he said. He also recalled that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had fallen to assassin's bullets on October 31, 1984. (UNI)
