New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

In a tweet, President Murmu said, "Hearty greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. The life Leela of Lord Krishna teaches us to do selfless deeds for the welfare of the people.



"I wish that this holy festival gives inspiration to all of us to give priority to everyone's interest with thought, word and deed."

Modi too tweeted in Hindi and said: "Hearty greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. May this festival of devotion and gaiety bring happiness, prosperity and good fortune in everyone's life".



Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also greeted the people on the occasion.

In a message, Sonia Gandhi, said: "On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, I give heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the countrymen. Let's remember those great teachings of Lord Shri Krishna on the holy day of Janmashtami. Those who have been inspiration to walk on the path of virtue for us."

Rahul Gandhi in a tweet said: "Happy Janmashtami to all the countrymen, I wish that the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna remain on everyone."



Priyanka Gandhi said "Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari, O Nath Narayan Vasudeva... Warm wishes to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Devkinandan, may the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna be with you all..."



Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended their wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.



"Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the people and devotees of 'Shri Krishna Janmashtami' Yashodanandan, Mohan Kanhaiya, had shown the path of all-world consciousness towards the establishment of religion, public protection, peace and collectivism. Long live Shri Krishna!" Yogi tweeted. (UNI)
