Protestors attempt to storm Manipur CM residence (VIDEO)

Imphal: Hundreds of people marched towards the residence of Chief Minister N Biren at Luwangsangbam, Imphal East on Thursday night.

They were stopped by security personnel near the residence of the Chief Minister and a clash ensued resulting in injuries to several persons.

Heavy firing by security personnel were heard as a large number of people also marched towards residences of BJP MLAs. After the news of killing of two school students - a girl and a boy - by armed militants, the state was gripped by violence.

The government has suspended mobile internet services.

A large number of Meitei Pangal (Muslim) took out a procession at Hatta, Imphal East to protest the killing. A scuffle ensued in which over 50 persons were injured. A journalist covering the incident was also assaulted by security personnel.

The entire city area looked like a war zone with security personnel constructing barricades to stop movement of people. (UNI)
