While farmers were preparing for the third attempt to march to Delhi, mobile internet services were suspended and security was enhanced at Shambhu border on Saturday.Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have announced that the third batch of 101 farmers will begin a Delhi march from Shambhu border adjoining Ambala district on Saturday.
Haryana government suspended services in parts of Ambala district to curb potential rumour-mongering and maintain law and order situation. The security measures have been enhanced at the Shambhu border. A layer of 8-foot-wall was added on top of the existing wall at the border to discourage the farmers.
Meanwhile, a farmer leader Tejvir Singh alleged that the union and the Haryana government were trying to create a "Manipur or Bangladesh like situation" by painting it to be an issue concerning only farmersof Punjab.He claimed that the support from across the country including Haryana was pouring in for the farmers' agitation.
The farmers organisations have been camping at Punjab-Haryana borders since February. Their demands include a law to guarantee minimum support price for their produce, debt waiver for the farmers and farm labourers, withdrawing of cases filed during the farmers protests over three farm laws among others.(UNI)
