Hoshiarpur: A 14-year-old girl gets pregnant after being allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man in the district, the police said on Monday.
The incident took place in a village under the Mahilpur police station.
The victim girl had been experiencing abdominal pain, prompting her parents to get her medically examined. The examination confirmed her pregnancy.
Following this, the girl informed her parents that she had been assaulted by a man from her village, the police said.
SI Raman Kumar said that the accused has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Further investigations are underway, he added.
