Lucknow: Rains have played havoc in eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh during the past 24 hours with over 25 people deaths, state authorities said on Friday.According to them, three died in Chandauli, two died in Bhadoi due to house collapse, while three died in electrocution in Kaushambi.
Deaths were also reported from Rae Bareli, Amethi, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Barabanki, Unnao , Gonda and Basti, they said.Rail and road traffic have been disrupted in several places of the state while school and colleges have been shut down in different places including Lucknow, Varanasi, Rae Bareli, Amethi and other places.
In Lucknow, rains poured uninterrupted since Thursday affecting school and office attendance. Water logging and other civic problem have also created miseries for the people of the state capital.Many highways including the Lucknow-Rae Bareli and Lucknow-Hardoi were disrupted due to uprooting of trees, the state authorities further said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all the District Magistrates and other officials to make arrangements to drain out the rain water and provide rescue in case of any house collapse.The CM instructed that the officials to personally visit the spots where people were facing problem due to heavy rains.
According to the weatherman, Fhursatganj in Rae Bareli recorded the highest of 89.6 millimeter of rains during the past 24 hours while in Lucknow received 45.4 mm.The weatherman has predicted that low pressure would continue over the eastern and central UP and hence wide spread rains were expected during the next 48 hours, in at least 16 districts of the state.(UNI)
