Bhilwara: A dispute in Sanganer town of Rajasthan's Bhilwara district led to issuing of prohibitory orders on Thursday.
A curfew is in place amid heavy police presence after last evening's clashes that came just days after large scale violence in Jodhpur city.
District Collector Ashish Modi on Thursday imposed the curfew and issued Internet shutdown in Sanganer and adjoining towns.
On Wednesday night two youths were admitted to hospital with serious injuries after a dispute, but measures by the police stemmed escalation further.
The Collector and the SP toured the town for the entire night and issued a curfew this morning, the police said, adding that the situation was under control.
Late Wednesday, some youths beat up the two youths sitting near Karbala in Sanganer town. Both were beaten up by the assailants, who also resorted to arson by setting their bike on fire. The attackers also raised slogans. Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
Police believe it to be a case of old enmity between the parties. All aspects were being examined.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday condemned the recent communal clashes in the state and said, “politics is going on in the name of case and religion."
He accused the RSS and BJP of “planning to instigate riots" in Karauli and Jodhpur. “In Rajgarh, where they have their own board, we took timely action. There were small incidents and we managed to control it and made arrests. We have decided that at any cost there will be no violence in Rajasthan," he told the media.
