Dholpur: A boy was beaten to death for allegedly refusing to work as a bonded labour in Dholpur district of Rajasthan, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred in the Sadar police station area of Bari yesterday.

The boy's body was later recovered from a pit near Parvati River.

According to police sources, Kalyan Singh, the father of the deceased 12-year-old Saurabh, lodged a complaint stating that his son was forced to work as a bonded labourer, leading to his murder.

Singh alleged that he was unable to pay for the ploughing of his field, and in lieu of this, influential accused persons took his two minor sons, Gaurav (14) and Saurabh, to work as bonded labourers.

When Saurabh refused to work, the accused persons allegedly beat him to death and buried his body in a pit.

The accused persons are said to be involved in illegal mining of sand and soil from the Parvati River.

The post-mortem was conducted today, and the body was handed over to the family members.
The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter.
