Rae Bareli: A criminal accused in a rape case and wanted by the police for the last 21 years was arrested from Unchahar area on Monday, police sources said.
Police sources said that Mohammad Hassim, who carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000 was arrested near NTPC. "In 2001 a rape was lodged against Hassim and was he was sent to jail after being arrested by the police," they said.
Police sources said that on November 26, 2001, Hassim was released on conditional parole and was absconding since then. "The High Court had also issued an arrest warrant against him and the Inspector General of Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest," they said.(UNI)
