Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A. Revanth Reddy will take oath as the state's Chief Minister on Thursday.
Putting an end to the two days of parleys, the Congress high command this evening announced in New Delhi the name of Reddy to be the next Chief Minister.
At a brief press conference in New Delhi, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal announced the AICC’s decision to make Revanth Reddy the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and the next Chief Minister of Telangana.
This was announced in the presence of former TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy and former CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the two key contenders for the top post.
Venugopal said Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and AICC in-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thakre have given a detailed report of their observations of the CLP meeting to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday.
After considering the report and the discussion with the senior leadership, the Congress President decided to go with Revanth Reddy, the PCC President, as the CLP leader, he said.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 7, said Venugopal.
“We will recognise all the senior leaders. This is not going to be a one man show and this is going to be a team'', he added. (UNI)
