Nagpur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated the 79th Independence Day on Friday by hoisting the national flag at its headquarters in Nagpur.
With RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat away from the city, Rajesh Loya, Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghchalak, unfurled the Tricolour at the Sangh headquarters in Mahal. Several RSS volunteers and pracharaks attended the ceremony.
In his address, Loya paid tributes to freedom fighters and lauded the Indian armed forces for giving a befitting reply to any threat to the nation since independence.
He said India’s victories, achieved using its own resources, have astonished the world and credited the success to the awakening of national self-respect in recent years.
Highlighting the importance of self-reliance, Loya emphasised that such awakening begins with language.
He urged people to prioritise their mother tongue, particularly Hindi, which is widely spoken, while also respecting and learning the language of the state they reside in.
Foreign languages should be used only for general interactions, he added.
