Bengaluru: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Sunday addressed recent media reports suggesting a rift between the RSS and the BJP, asserting that the RSS serves as a "guardian for every government."

In light of discussions regarding the RSS-BJP relationship, Hosabale emphasised that electoral assessments are routine.

"The assessment has already been done by the people of the country. RSS is also a part of the nation. And if we play the role of a guardian, then we are a guardian for every government," he stated.

His remarks come amid media reports highlighting differences between the two organisations. However, RSS publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar has reportedly downplayed the concerns.

Hosabale also addressed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, noting that the government has formed a joint parliamentary committee to examine the issue.

"So far, it has proceeded in the right direction. We will see how the government and Parliament handle the matter," he added. The bill has been a focal point of discussions on religious trust governance and land ownership rights.

Referring to historical renaming decisions, Hosabale cited the example of Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road being renamed Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, stating that such changes carry a meaningful purpose. His remarks come amid a broader debate on reclaiming historical narratives through renaming initiatives.
