New Delhi: In an unusual incident at the Supreme Court this morning, a man dressed in a lawyer’s robe allegedly attempted to throw an object at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai during court proceedings.

The individual, who was heard shouting slogans inside the courtroom, was swiftly overpowered and escorted out by security personnel. The disruption led to a brief halt in proceedings before normalcy was restored.

Eyewitnesses reported that the man shouted, “Sanatan Dharam ka apmaan nahi sahega Hindustan” (“India will not tolerate disrespect towards Sanatan Dharma”) while being removed from the courtroom. Some witnesses claimed he tried to hurl a shoe, while others suggested it was a roll of paper.

Displaying composure, CJI Gavai resumed the session immediately after the interruption. Asking the next lawyer to continue arguments, he remarked calmly, “Don’t get distracted. We are not distracted by this.”

Security around the courtroom was later tightened following the incident.
