Pune: The city-based Sarhad and Arham Group of educational institutes have jointly started preparations to carry out numerous activities throughout the year to commemorate 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The first programme of Kargil Gaurav National award will he held on July 23, followed by famed Kargil International Marathon scheduled to be held on September 17, wherein more than 3,000 people are likely to participate, Dr Shailesh Pagariya, president of Arham Group of institutes, said here on Sunday.
"We have selected the name of Madhuri Kanetkar, the vice-chancellor of Health Sciences University this year for Kargil Gaurav Puraskar for her immense contribution in the field of medical science," he said.
Besides Kanetkar, other personalities who will be felicitated with the award are retired Lt Gen Arjun Rai, Shaleen Kabra, Home secretary J&K, Shahnawaz A Shah, Marketing and PR head, SKICC, he informed.
Speaking about Kargil Marathon, he said that this event is also an opportunity to gain first-hand experience to organise the Kargil International Marathon on a larger scale.
"We are also exploring exchanges in the fields of tourism, education and sports. A team from Kargil had recently visited Arham Group of educational institutes here and expressed optimism about academic exchanges between the colleges... The possibility of organising skill development opportunities for students from Kargil was also discussed in the meeting," Pagariya added. (UNI)
