Bengaluru: V K Sasikala, a close aide of former Tamil Nadu chief minister late J Jayalalithaa left for Chennai on Monday after serving four years jail term in disproportionate asset case.

After her release from Central jail on January 27 she underwent treatment for Corona and moved in to a private Resort before leaving for Chennai.

Hundreds of her supporters had arrived near her resort since morning at Kodagurki village in Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru Rural district to welcome their leader back to Tamil Nadu.

Sasikala’s supporters from Tamil Nadu had put up posters and banners wishing her in Tamil, outside the resort. However, the banners in Tamil angered the pro-Kannada organisations and it was removed, triggering tension in the area. The local police intervened and prevented the groups from clashing with each other. The posters had pictures of Sasikala, Jayalalithaa and MGR.

While the supporters of Sasikala from Tamil Nadu are rejoicing over her arrival, the Bengaluru police have prohibited elaborate receptions till she reaches the inter-state border, citing Covid-19 rules and law and order issues.(UNI)
