New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday deferred the Rohingya hearing to January next year for final disposal of the case.A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, said, ''we will hear the case in January 2019 for final disposal of the case.''
Prashant Bhuhan, senior Apex Court lawyer, who had filed a  petition before the Court seeking a halt to the deportations, had stated in his plea that if these Rohingya men deported to their country, they may be tortured and even may be killed there. It is a clear case of human rights violation.

The government had said in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the deportations were an administrative decision involving diplomatic and other considerations including an overwhelming consideration of national interest.

The Court is also hearing a case against a government order last year that states should identify and deport all Rohingyas, calling them illegal immigrants who pose a national security risk.(UNI)
