New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed for live streaming of court proceedings and held that it will start initially from the apex court itself.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Dipak Misra, said the necessary rules with respect to balancing the right of public and protecting the dignity of litigants, would be framed soon.

Senior lawyer Indira Jaising, in her petition, had asked the SC to video record or live stream cases of only national importance or those that impact the public at large. Apart from making the courts more accessible, she said it would help in archiving the rich debate. She also pleaded that live streaming of court proceedings would also be of great value as an educational resource.
