SC pulls up Centre, states on blacklisting of Tablighi Jamaat members

New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Friday sought a detailed response from the Centre and the states, after hearing a petition challenging the blacklisting and cancellation of Visas of more than 1,000 members of Tablighi Jamaat.
A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, sought a detailed response from the Union of India (UoI) and other States, after hearing petitions seeking a direction to return the visas of these Tablighi Jamaat members, so as to allow them to return to their respective countries.
 
''We seek a detailed response from the Central government. The issue is regarding Visas. After going through the detailed report on Monday, we will see what we can do," the bench, also comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dinesh Maheshwari, observed. (UNI)
