New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed its own earlier verdict by which guidelines were framed to prevent misuse of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act and by which automatic arrest on complaint filed under the Act was stopped.
The Centre had filed the review petition, before the three-judge bench of the Apex Court, against its judgment of March 2018, diluting the 'The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1986. A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Arun Mishra passed the verdict today after hearing the review petition.

The Apex Court also heard the arguments and submissions from all the petitioners and respondents. The court set aside the two-judge bench order and said the SC should not have ventured to frame guidelines as it comes within the domain of legislatures.(UNI)
